I am yet to meet someone who dislikes smoothies. They are my favorite quick and easy, but often healthy breakfast option. I love smoothies because, in just one glass, I can fit my daily serving of fruits and vegetables for the day, and they keep me full until lunchtime. Now that most of us are trying to lose quarantine weight, smoothies may be an excellent option to pack in some healthy sugars and vitamins. In my case, I always try to use plant beverages like oat, almond, and soy milk instead of cow milk. Sometimes, this allows me to cut out some calories because if you are not careful, one glass of smoothie can be a mighty calorie bomb. Furthermore, I also strive to have fruits that are not very ripe, since the sugar content in fruits can increase when they are super ripe.
Today, I will share with you one of the many smoothie recipes I use. You can swap in any fruit of your choice. The other option will be to get frozen fruits; those can be a significant time-saver. In the upcoming weeks, I will share with you my green smoothie recipe with baby spinach, its delicious and has way fewer calories.
½ sliced strawberries
1 average-sized banana
½ cup of oat, almond, or soy milk
1 teaspoon ground chia seeds
2 cubes of ice
Mix everything and blend on the smoothie setting.
NB: You can play around with the quantity of milk to get the consistency you like.
I hope this recipe will inspire you to make all kinds of smoothies for yourself, your family, and your friends.
